I had the great opportunity to design two 15-foot-tall banners for the Benedictine College Ministry. These two banners reflect the college ministry's spirit as an organization and incorporate some of their beliefs. I focused the design around the two founders of the Benedictine Order, Benedict and Scholastica. They have an engraved look to harken back to etchings, like works by Rembrandt, in Catholic art history. The gold background was inspired by gold-leafed icons. Both of the banners have different mottos used by Benedictine monks and sisters. Benedict has ravens subtly flying behind him. Ravens are often depicted with Benedict. Scholastica has a floral pattern for her hallows which emphasizes her unique role in the Church as a female role model and leader.
