Ecce Apparel was a passion project of mine. The problem I see with several small Christian companies is that the apparel only focuses on the message and does not care as much for good design. I have seen many shirts which were made with good intentions but look bland or corny. My goal was to create a brand that relies on art and literature surrounding Christianity and implement those ideas into good apparel designs. Over the year and a half when I sold Ecce clothing on and off, I was able to experiment with many concepts and learn from each success and failure.
The best-selling clothing were the ones that communicated their themes and also remained fashionable. The Chi-Rho long sleeve was one the best selling. It seems at first abstract but incorporates imagery that Christians are familiar with. The Chi-Rho is an ancient symbol found everywhere in Christianity. The symbol was first used in war by Constantine and still carries the idea of victory through faith. The strong grey bars and golden laurel vines help communicate the idea of strength and victory.
