I was hired to refashion the packaging for several products sold by FullofGraceUSA. I worked on repackaging gratuity cards, bookmarks, and prayer intention cards. For the bookmarks and prayer intention cards, I designed a label that could be placed over the plastic packaging in which these items are already packaged. Both of these items are small purchases, often bought at the very end of visiting the store. The packaging design needed to be cost-effective to make the new design worthwhile. The bookmarks and prayer intention cards had slightly different dimensions and needed two different designs that carried the same identity.
For the gratuity cards, I had some more space to work in. I still needed to keep a similar identity while designing a variety of cards in various bundles. For this, I created a pattern similar to that of the bookmarks and prayer intention cards. These patterns are elegant and respectful which compliments the purpose of the product while adding some more interest to the packaging. The pattern is inspired by William Morris, who brought wallpaper into fashion during the Arts and Crafts Movement.
I also had the opportunity to create several display ads for FullofGraceUSA and its sister company Motherboards. These are small ads that get a very short amount of time from their audience to make an impact. Therefore the style of the designs had to be minimal and easily digestible, favoring legibility over complex beauty.
